World Bank to allocate $50 million to improve quality of education in Tajikistan

Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kakhhorzoda and World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan Ozan Sevimli signed the financing agreement for the Learning Environment — Foundation of Quality Education Project aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and learning environments in selected general secondary schools, the press office the Ministry of Finance reported to CentralAsia.news.

The WB International Development Association will allocate $50 million for the implementation of the project in 2023-2029.

The participants of the meeting signed the project financing agreement for modernisation of social protection systems and economic integration, the main aim of which is to protect the most vulnerable groups of the population, assist them in economic integration and improve social protection systems.

The total project cost is $37.5 million, of which $35 million is provided by the International Development Association and $2.5 million by the multi-donor Trust Fund of the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents. The project is scheduled to start in 2023 and be completed in 2027.
