The Yangi Nafas large-scale competitions were held in Uzbekistan. They mark the Youth Day and the International Olympic Day that are observed on June 23 and June 30 respectively. A total of 60,000 runners from the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan participated in the sporting event, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
They included over 17,000 students, cadets and graduates of military educational institutions.
The race was organised by the National Olympic Committee and the ministries, including the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and local khokimiyats.
The heads of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan, high-ranking officials of ministries and departments and the Chairman of the National Olympic Committee attended the opening ceremony.
