Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan takes part in CIS Economic Council meeting

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin took part in the 98th meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow, the press office of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

The key topics under discussion included joint efforts to remove trade barriers and restrictions among the CIS countries and implement the Free Trade in Services Agreement, signed by the heads of government of the CIS Member States in early June. It was noted that the Agreement should contribute to creating a favourable business climate in the CIS.

Trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the CIS Member States demonstrates steady improvements of their indicators. For example, in the first 4 months of 2023, trade grew 8.5 percent to reach $11.4 billion compared to the same period a year ago.

The participants discussed the development of e-commerce among the CIS countries.

The Governments of the CIS countries were recommended to monitor the inflation rate and the average annual weighted average rate on long-term loans to accelerate economic growth.
