Kyrgyzstan seeks to expand cooperation with Germany in green hydrogen production

On June 22, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held talks with President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, following which he participated in a press conference. Answering journalists’ questions, Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan is seeking to bolster cooperation with the German side in green hydrogen production and use, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Kyrgyz leader said Kyrgyzstan will do everything possible on the green growth platform to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Renewable energy sources, in particular hydropower, will be the driving force behind carbon-free policies. In this context, he stressed that the country has a great potential to use solar and wind energy.

Noting that the German delegation included the top managers of companies that operate in hydropower and solar power industries, Japarov confirmed that his country is seeking to further expand cooperation with these companies.

Given the hydropower potential of Kyrgyzstan, the emphasis was placed on the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to promote cooperation with Germany in green hydrogen production and use. It was noted that green hydrogen contributes to greening the economy, in particular the industrial and transport sectors.
