On June 21, Deputy Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan Muzraf Ikramov and Head of Division for Central Asia at European External Action Service Dietmar Krissler co-chaired the 19th meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU Subcommittee on Justice, Internal Affairs, Human Rights and Related Issues, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported.
The meeting was held in a constructive and open atmosphere, and an exchange of views on a wide range of issues, including the prospects for boosting cooperation, took place.
The parties discussed human rights, measures for strengthening civil society in Uzbekistan and the EU countries and the ongoing projects aimed at combating terrorism, illicit drug trafficking and organized crime.
The Uzbek side informed the European side in detail about the ongoing political, legal and socio-economic reforms in New Uzbekistan.
It was noted that the recent constitutional reform laid a solid foundation for sustainable development of statehood and Uzbekistan’s economy.
