Leaders of Uzbekistan and Iran make joint statement on strengthening ties

On June 18, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi during his official visit to Tehran. Following the talks, the bilateral documents aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan-Iran partnerships in various fields were signed, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

Mirziyoyev and Raisi signed a Joint Statement on strengthening Iran-Uzbekistan cooperation.

The parties signed a preferential trade agreement, a cooperation programme between the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation and the Iranian National Standards Organization and an action plan for cooperation in technology and innovation.

The countries intend to work on projects of joint free economic zones and in the pharmaceutical, transport and transit sectors.

Uzbekistan and Iran signed a sports action plan, a memorandum of understanding on dispute resolution and arbitration and an optional agreement on reinsurance cooperation. A total of 15 documents were signed.
