The Birinshi boluga batyldyk Corporate Fund has held a half-marathon in Astana for the second time. The event brought together more than 6,000 participants from 20 countries of the world, the City Administration reported to CentralAsia.news.
The route ran through the sights of the capital, including the Botanical Garden, the National Museum and the Palace of Independence.
Deputy Mayor of Astana Yerlan Bekmurzaev attended the opening ceremony. He noted that the number of participants had increased compared to last year.
One of the distinctive features of this year’s marathon was the early start: the participants of the 10-km race began running at 7 o’clock in the morning, and the half-marathon runners hit the road 25 minutes later.
The winner of the 21-km race Mikhail Kulkov noted that it was not easy to gain a victory. He said he liked a festive atmosphere in Kazakhstan and shared that today’s result was his best achievement, despite the injury he got 4 weeks ago.
