President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution on holding the opening ceremony of Arkadag, the first «smart» city in the country. The event will take place on June 29. The document notes that it should be held at a high organizational level. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan today».
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the city administration, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Ministry of Culture and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs will take part in organizing the ceremony. According to the resolution, the coverage of the event in the media must also be implemented at a high level.
According to other documents, the president gave an order to hold international tenders for the purchase of specialized utility vehicles and their spare parts for Arkadag. A seismic station, food, industrial and medical production enterprises will be built in the settlement.
The head of state also took part in the start of the second phase of the construction of Arkadag. He lowered a capsule with a memorable message to the descendants into the foundation of one of the facilities.
The construction of the city was started at the initiative of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in 2019. The settlement is located 30 kilometers away from Ashgabat, the capital of the country.
