Kazakhstan particpates in session of International Labour Organization

The delegation of Kazakhstan, headed by First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection Akmadi Sarbasov, is participating in the regular session of the International Labour Organization in Switzerland, the press office of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population reported.

The Kazakh delegation consists of the representatives of the Ministry, trade unions and the association of employers of Kazakhstan.

Akmadi Sarbasov reported on the measures taken in Kazakhstan to develop the social and labour sectors.

Over the period of cooperation with the ILO, Kazakhstan has ratified 25 conventions, and work is underway to ratify the Convention concerning Minimum Wage Fixing, with Special Reference to Developing Countries and the Convention concerning the elimination of violence and harassment in the world of work.

With the aim of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Kazakhstan is committed to improving the people’s welfare. Through the efforts of the Government, Kazakhstan ranks 65th out of the 163 countries in the global ranking of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Kazakhstan is making improvements to the Social Code of Kazakhstan aimed not at responding to the consequences of difficult life situations, but at eradicating the origin of such situations, training specialists and ensuring that all citizens have access to employment and occupational safety.
