Mirziyoyev says Uzbekistan ready to help Kazakhstan fight forest fires

On June 12, a telephone conversation between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the leader of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took place on the initiative of the Uzbek side. The Uzbek leader expressed deep condolences to the President and people of Kazakhstan on the deaths in large fires in Abai Region, the press service of the Uzbek leader reports.

He emphasised the readiness to provide all necessary assistance in fighting the natural disaster and mitigating its impacts.

The two leaders confirmed once again their commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships and cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views on the current global situation.

As was reported, on June 8, a fire broke out in the Semey-Ormany State Forest Natural Reserve in Abay Region of Kazakhstan, which killed 14 forestry workers. President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed the Decree on the posthumous awarding of those killed in the fire with the Kurmet Order «for courage and selflessness in an emergency» and declared June 12 a day of mourning.
