On June 9, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting in Milan with Governor of Lombardy Attilio Fontana on the second day of his official visit to Italy. The interlocutors discussed practical aspects of mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in the trade and investment sectors, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
The President of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction that in recent years, Uzbekistan-Italy economic cooperation has been developing dynamically. The number of joint ventures with Italian capital has doubled. Bilateral trade is marked by a steady upward trend. The two countries are successfully implementing joint projects in electrical engineering, metallurgy and infrastructure development.
The interlocutors highlighted the need to develop the programme of cooperation with Lombardy and hold a joint investment forum in Samarkand noted as soon as possible.
The President of Uzbekistan said he had held the fruitful and constructive high-level talks with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
