Uzbekistan and FAO to develop new cooperation plan until 2030

On June 8, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) where he met with FAO Director-General QU Dongyu during his official visit to Italy. The interlocutors discussed the development of a new large-scale Cooperation Programme until 2030, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

«The priority areas include the development of a new full-scale Cooperation Programme until 2030, which provides for the implementation of projects and measures to achieve food security, fundamental research, digital transformation in agriculture and assistance in addressing the environmental problems of the Aral Sea region, among others,» the report says.

The interlocutors emphasised their willingness to further expand partnerships in the face of growing global threats to food security.

They also discussed the preparations for the FAO High-Level International Conference, which will be held in Samarkand.

QU Dongyu expressed support to the structural reforms aimed at modernising Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.
