Russia to open 9 Russian-language schools in Kyrgyzstan

Chairman of the RF Government Mikhail Mishustin announced the launch of the project for the opening of 9 schools in Kyrgyzstan, which will teach children in the Russian language, TASS reports.

This initiative was proposed as part of the agreements between the leaders of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, Vladimir Putin and Sadyr Japarov. The Chairman of the RF Government expressed belief that this project would contribute to promoting teaching in the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan.

Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov expressed a hope that the project would be launched officially on September 1 and expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the decision to increase state-funded quotes at Russian universities for Kyrgyz citizens. The quota should increase this year: up to 1,000 students will be enrolled. He also discussed with Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk the possibility of increasing the quota to 5,000 students.
