On June 6, Tajik leader Emomali Rahmon held talks with RF Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, who arrived in Dushanbe for a working visit. The interlocutors focused on the current state and prospects for promoting cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation within strategic bilateral cooperation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
The interlocutors focused on building up bilateral political, economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In this context, they noted the importance of expanding consistently mutually beneficial partnerships in these areas.
Rahmon noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics in the development of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest. He highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in various sectors of the economy, education, migration, as well as interregional cooperation.
The interlocutors exchanged views on international and regional issues, in particular, on the Afghanistan-related issue.
