World Bank has allocated $2.7 billion for 116 projects in Tajikistan

Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank Antonella Bassani arrived in Dushanbe for an official visit. She was received by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. He noted that the World Bank has allocated over $2.7 billion for 116 projects in Tajikistan for over 30 years of cooperation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The President expressed satisfaction with the existing level of partnerships between Tajikistan and the World Bank. Bassani stressed that the international financial organisation is ready to continue supporting the Republic within the global climate change agenda, in particular in developing a green economy.

The WB Vice President noted that Tajikistan has a great potential to produce and export renewable electricity. The parties also considered attracting capital from development partners to the healthcare, educational, social, water and irrigation sectors, as well as to digitalization.

Rahmon and Bassani emphasised the need for economic reforms in Tajikistan to mitigate the impact of global instability.
