Tokayev calls on Korea to fully use potential of IGC and Business Council

On June 1, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Park Jin. The interlocutors discussed the current state and possibilities for expanding bilateral multifaceted cooperation, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

Tokayev noted with satisfaction the high dynamics of trade, investment, technological, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

«We highly evaluate all the achievements in our bilateral cooperation. I am very pleased that bilateral trade has exceeded $6 billion. However, we have many opportunities that need to be used in the future. Therefore, I think that this visit is a good opportunity to exchange views on key international issues,» the President said.

The Kazakh leader said the two countries have built a strong network of institutional partnerships, the main components of which are the Kazakhstan-Korea Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and the Business Council. In this context, he called on the Korean side to fully use the potential of these structures.

Park Jin said his country is ready to further expand cooperation both on a bilateral and regional scale. He expressed interest in promoting partnerships in digital technologies, healthcare, energy and environmental protection.
