In Ashgabat, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev met with the OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid. During the negotiations, the head of the department noted progressive development of the partnership with the organization. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen MFA.
Attention was paid to the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in politics, economy, energy, ecology, transport, as well as in the parliamentary and humanitarian spheres.
It was emphasized that Ashgabat effectively cooperates with the organization in countering terrorism, combating cross-border crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and in the field of cybersecurity as well. Turkmenistan makes efforts to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan through the implementation of infrastructure projects at the regional and international levels, and the provision of humanitarian assistance.
Schmid noted the effectiveness of the policy of neutrality of Turkmenistan in the field of ensuring peace in the region. Hajiyev stressed that Ashgabat stands for the development of «green» ports, digital transformation, facilitation of trade procedures and improvement of transport and logistics routes in the Central Asian and Caucasian regions.
