Zhaparov places capsule in cornerstone of automotive plant

On May 11, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov made a working trip to Chui Region, where he placed a capsule in the cornerstone of the Altyn Tulpar Unaa Kurulush joint venture that would assemble and produce cars and commercial vehicles in Ak-Suu village, the press office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers said Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan cooperation has reached a new level.

«Regular mutual visits are supported by bilateral agreements on the enhancement and expansion of multifaceted cooperation between our countries,» the Prime Minister said.

Zhaparov noted that a new automotive plant is a project of strategic importance for the two countries.

At the initial stage, the automotive plant will have the production capacity of 10,000 vehicles per year and create over 1,000 permanent jobs.

An agreement on the construction of a automotive plant in Kyrgyzstan was reached during the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in January this year.
