Turkmenistan hosts round table on «green» and digital transformation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a round table on the promotion of the «green» economy and digitalization. The event was attended by local officials and the representatives of United Nations specialized agencies. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen department.

The emphasis was placed on the results of participation of the delegation from Ashgabat in the 70th session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the Ministerial Meeting of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).

During the event, it was noted that the Central Asian country is taking concrete practical steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in particular methane. The state is ready to expand international partnerships in the field of the use of «green» technologies and digital transformation, as well as within promoting hydrogen energy.

Particular attention was paid to the construction of Arkadag, the «smart» city in Turkmenistan, which is being erected on the basis of the approach of zero harm to the environment. During the speeches, the officials emphasized that the Central Asian state considers the «green» transformation an important part of the fight against climate change.
