On April 28, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malasia Johari Abdul, who was visiting Tashkent as an observer at the referendum on the draft Constitutional Law On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the press office of the Senate of Uzbekistan reported.
The lively talks focused on building up cooperation in a number of areas, including between the parliaments. The representative of the Parliament of Malasia was informed about the preparations for the upcoming referendum on the draft Constitution of Uzbekistan and the measures taken to bring national legislation in line with international standards.
The interlocutors emphasised the advisability of establishing cooperation in parliamentary control of legislative and law enforcement practices. They considered strengthening trade, economic and investment cooperation and partnerships in tourism, including pilgrimage, education, science and culture.
