On April 29, the Zhasyl Astana city-wide environmental action has taken place in Astana. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in the action, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reports.
The Kazakh leader planted trees in the Linear Park in Astana and talked to the students and volunteers participating in the action, thanking them for their initiative and participation in the event.
The President said the civic duty of every citizen is to keep the city and the country clean, maintain environmental well-being and plant trees and flowers.
The President and government officials accompanying him planted 2 pine trees and 39 linden seedlings.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev reviewed the tree planting and beautification plan presented for by Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek. This year, more than one million seedlings of trees and shrubs are to be planted in the city, and the parks and recreation areas on the embankments of the Yesil River are to be reconstructed and refurbished.
