New ground metro stations open in Tashkent

The opening ceremony of 5 new ground metro stations on the Kuylik-Kuruvchilar section with a length of 7.74 kilometres took place in Tashkent, the press office of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan reported.

The total length of the Tashkent metro has reached 66.74 kilometres, and the number of stations has increased to 48. These figures are almost two times more than in 2016, and passenger traffic has tripled during this period.

The ground metro in Tashkent was launched in 2020. It is the only metro of this type in Central Asia. Since then, the Sergeli road and the Dustlik-Kuylik section were put into operation. This year, metro builders have extended this section to the Kuruvchilar station.

Each of the new metro stations is designed in a unique style and equipped with escalators and elevators, as well as the necessary devices for the convenience of passengers with limited mobility.

Currently, construction work continues on the Kuruvchilar-Kipchak section; the new section is 3.64 kilometres long. After putting the new ground metro section into operation, the length of the Tashkent metro will exceed 70 kilometres.
