Garden of Memory Action takes place in Tajikistan

50 poplar seedlings were planted near new D. I. Mendeleev Russian-Tajik School in Tursunzade town in the west of Tajikistan. This was done as part of the Garden of Memory international campaign, during which 27 million trees will be planted in commemoration of those who perished in the Great Patriotic War, RIA Novosti reports.

Addressing the schoolchildren, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Tajikistan Ivan Ivanov noted that these trees were planted for them so that they would remember the present day and take care of young trees. He emphasised the importance of remembering the heroic deeds of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who made our future possible, and keeping the memory of them alive through the centuries.

The Garden of Memory Action was initiated by the members of the Volunteers of Victory movement in Tajikistan — the activists of the Russian Community public organisation of Russian compatriots in Tursunzade town.
