Kazakhstan set to boost mining, metallurgical and gas industries

On April 20, Chairman of the Government of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting to discuss measures which would be taken to boost the mining, metallurgical and gas industries, develop gas and gas condensate deposits, supply fuel to industrial enterprises, modernise railway infrastructure to allow the transport of raw materials and other issues, the press office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The participants focused on coal supplies to citizens of the country during the winter months. In this context, Smailov emphasised the need to design a transparent market mechanism to sell fuel, using digital solutions and taking into account the lessons of the last year’s heating season. Such an approach will ensure order in trade and an equal distribution of coal among consumers and allow avoiding unreasonable price increases during peak periods.

The Prime Minister gave the heads of the central government agencies, the national companies Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and QazaqGaz and the ERG enterprise specific instructions to address the issues discussed at the meeting.
