President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Miroslav Jenča, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas, Acting Head of UNRCCA. The leader of the country noted the effectiveness of the interaction between Ashgabat and the UN, «Turkmenistan today» reports.
Berdimuhamedov stressed that several resolutions that were put forward by the Central Asian country received the unanimous support of the member states of the United Nations. Thus, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, 2023 was declared the International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace.
The president drew attention to the fact that Ashgabat and the UN are closely cooperating in the field of security, economy, energy, transport, ecology, as well as within the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, solving social and humanitarian issues. Turkmenistan joined the leadership of a number of commissions, committees and councils of the UN. It was the Vice-Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly several times.
During the meeting, Berdimuhamedov also noted that the state supports the work of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
