Turkmenistan and UN to expand partnership in information sphere

In Switzerland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Tatiana Valovaya, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva. They agreed to expand cooperation in the information sphere. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen MFA.

The parties underlined the potential for interaction within the exchange of experience in the work of the media, the training of international journalists. Meredov and Valovaya agreed to take measures to develop a corresponding partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations in the near future.

Security issues were also discussed during the meeting. It was noted that Turkmenistan, as a neutral state, stands for the consolidation of the world community in ensuring global peace.

On April 14, Ashgabat hosted a round table dedicated to the topic «New formats of cooperation in the international information environment». The event highlighted the importance of creating a secure information environment.
