Employees of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan held an online meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank and the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation Program. The country will become part of the CAREC project for the development of transit trade. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the Turkmen department.
The project is called the CAREC Advanced Transit System/Information Common Exchange. It aims to improve the security of the supply chain in the Central Asian region, as well as to reduce the overall costs of transit trade.
The officials said that the state customs service would coordinate the work in the relevant direction in the country. Part of the meeting was dedicated to further interaction between the parties, as well as consideration of the text of the memorandum of understanding.
The CAREC Advanced Transit System/Information Common Exchange is a harmonized electronic system for the control of the movement of goods in transit through member states of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation Program.
