Tashkent hosted the regional forum «People’s diplomacy — an important factor in strengthening peace, friendship and good neighbourliness in Central Asia». The Public Diplomacy Centre of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization organised the event, China’s Xinhua News Agency reports.
The forum focused on international and regional cooperation of the Central Asian countries. The crucial component of public diplomacy is a cultural and humanitarian dialogue, the idea of which was put forward at the 3rd Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The organisers of the forum considered creating mechanisms for cooperation among the institutions of public diplomacy within the SCO. The participants emphasised that Central Asia plays an important role in international relations. The concept of the «spirit of Central Asia» appeared in world political science.
The Central Asian countries promote the idea of strong linkages with South Asia and make a tangible contribution to forging relations among the countries of Eurasia. The main aim of the forum is to strengthen peace, friendship and good neighbourliness in the region.
