Kazakhstan adopts Rural Development Concept

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov signed the Resolution approving the Rural Development Concept for 2023-2027 aimed at untapping the social and economic potential of rural areas with regard to their geographical and climatic features, the press office of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

In accordance with the Concept, measures will be taken to raise incomes of rural populations and improve the quality of life in rural areas. The Concept was developed on the initiative and in accordance with the Decree signed last autumn by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.

The Concept provides for large-scale modernisation of 3,500 settlements throughout the country that have high development potential. With the aim of developing social, engineering and transport infrastructures, new educational and healthcare facilities and roads will be built, rural people will be provided with water, heat, electricity and gas and get access to the Internet and satellite communications. So that rural people will take part in cultural life, the Concept envisages building libraries, houses of culture, clubs, cinemas, museums, sports facilities and service institutions.

It is planned to connect land plots to supply networks, build police stations to ensure law and order and security of rural people, improve soil quality, put new irrigated land into circulation, provide concessional micro credits to support the growth of private farm businesses and boost the import-substituting industry.
