Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held an online meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary General, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Olga Algayerova. They discussed the participation of the delegation of the country in the 70th session of the commission. It was reported to CentralAsia.news by the press office of the MFA of Turkmenistan.Attention was paid to corresponding preparations. Emphasis was also placed on the priority vectors of interaction between the Central Asian state and the UN Economic Commission for Europe. In addition, the parties considered the participation of representatives of Turkmenistan in the Ministerial meeting of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia.
Meredov and Algayerova exchanged views on the ongoing work to open Arkadag city in Turkmenistan. Emphasis was placed on the possibility of raising the significance of the city in the UNECE space.
The 70th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe will take place in Geneva on 18-19 April 2023. The event will take stock of the UNECE’s work to promote a circular economy and the sustainable use of natural resources, among other issues.
