The Development of Public Transport in Khujand Project worth $26.84 million, which includes 5 stages, is ongoing in Sughd Region of Tajikistan. 3 project stages have been fully implemented, the Khovar News Agency reported.
General Director of the Khujand Passenger Transport State Communal Unitary Enterprise Muzaffar Rakhimkhujaev said such project activities as the reconstruction of the administrative building and the bus repair centre of the State Communal Unitary Enterprise are underway. He said the facility was built in the 1970s and was in poor condition, and the project envisages equipping it.
Rakhimkhujaev noted that it is planned to use the project savings to purchase modern electric buses. Currently, 20 buses of the Enterprise carry passengers on two routes, and passenger services on routes 4 and 5 will be started in the second decade of April.
