Zhaparov attends completion ceremony of $25 million hydroelectric power plant reconstruction project

On April 5, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov arrived in At-Bashi district of Naryn Region to participate in the completion ceremony of the At-Bashihydroelectric power plant reconstruction project for, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

As reported, the reconstruction project increased its capacity from 40 MW to 45.7 MW and operating life by 25-40 years.

«The Kyrgyz Republic has a very high hydropower potential. We have about 40,000 rivers and glaciers with the four highest peaks in the world. We are ready to use this potential and create an enabling environment for future investors. The direct proof of this is the completion of the reconstruction of the At-Bashi hydroelectric power plant,» the Prime Minister said.

As reported, the project that encompassed a range of measures for reconstructing and modernising electromechanical equipment cost $25 million.

Zhaparov expressed gratitude to the Government of the Swiss Confederation for providing assistance in reconstruction of the hydroelectric power plant.
