President Mirziyoyev holds meeting on modernisation of heating systems

On April 3, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss the measures to modernise the heating systems of social facilities in the country, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

This winter has showed that most of heat networks in the Republic are outdated and need to be modernised. 15,000 social facilities need to be repaired. The temperature in buildings is approximately two times lower than normal, and about 35 percent of all heat loss occurs through the poor condition of heat pipes.

An experiment in one of the districts of Andijan Region, where modern heating boilers replaced out-of-date equipment and transferred to private sector organisations, showed positive results. This allowed maintaining thermal comfort in buildings and reducing heat loss. It was decided to extend the experiment in Andijan Region in other regions of the country.

It was proposed that heating networks be transferred to private sector organisations for 10 years. The state will procure services from these organisations. The project aimed at modernising heating systems will be funded partly by the state budget and partly by a private partner.

The issues under discussion included inventory and modernisation of heating systems, involvement of the private sector in solving the problem and coal supplies to the population.
