On April 3, a meeting on public security measures took place at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan. Employees of the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Association of Security Organisations participated in the meeting, the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan reported.

The agenda included a joint discussion of the draft Concept for Public Security with representatives of the public and measures to protect public safety in crowded spaces.

The participants emphasised the importance of crime prevention activities, including the use of new methods of work, and involving active citizens in these activities.

The Association of Security Organisations proposed that employees of security organisations that have sufficient resources to assist the authorities be involved in maintaining public safety and order.

The participants proposed that public security measures be tightened at the facilities that may be potentially vulnerable to terrorist attacks, including schools. In this regard, they noted that specific design solutions of buildings and adjacent territories could serve to thwart acts of terrorism.

The measures to maintain public safety and order on the streets and in crowded places include the installation of video surveillance cameras and street lighting equipment, as well as enhanced security measures in places of recreation.
