Uzbekistan and Egypt to set up Centre for Industrial Cooperation and Distribution

On April 3, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held an online meeting with Minister of Industry and Trade of Egypt Ahmed Saleh. The officials discussed the current state and prospects for boosting bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade, investment and industrial sectors, the press office of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade reported to CentralAsia.news.

The interlocutors considered setting up a joint Centre for Industrial Cooperation and Distribution in Port Said to locate Uzbek textile, leather and electrical enterprises. In this context, Saleh expressed his readiness to assist in the proper and timely implementation of projects.

They focused on bolstering trade and industrial cooperation, noting that the two countries have a significant potential for increasing bilateral trade. The interlocutors agreed to intensify joint efforts to expediate the endorsement and approval of the Programme for Industrial Cooperation and Trade and the Preferential Trade Agreement between Uzbekistan and Egypt.

The Ministers agreed to set up a joint Business Council of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two states and conduct its first meeting at the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent this summer.
