On March 24, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with Executive Director of the UN Children’s Fund Catherine Russell on the sidelines of the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York. The interlocutors discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation over 30 years and identified promising areas of cooperation, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
Sustainable water resources management and the implementation of the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 in line with the Sustainable Development Goals were identified as the main vectors of bilateral cooperation.
It was emphasised that the Government of Tajikistan views the protection of the rights of children and adolescents as a key social policy priority, as illustrated by the adoption of the Law On the Protection of the Rights of the Child.
An exchange of views took place on building partnership in the fight against domestic violence, prevention of juvenile deliquesces and crimes against children and protection of the rights of vulnerable children and children with disabilities.
