Kyrgyzstan calls for empowerment of all women and girls at UN session

On March 10, Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhyldyz Polotova addressed the 67th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, focusing on the initiatives put forward by President Sadyr Japarov to develop a green, digital and creative economy, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

She said these initiatives demonstrate a strong commitment to removing barriers to bridging the digital divide and advancing gender equality in the digital age.

The deputies of Jogorku Kenesh made presentations on the legal progress towards gender equality and the initiatives of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan at the parallel events. They highlighted the need to accelerate attention and investment in the development of new digital opportunities for women and girls in mountain regions, who are key actors in economic, environmental and social transformations that play a pivotal role in sustainable development.

The Kyrgyz delegation focused on the challenges and opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for women and children in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan.
