Partnership in food security discussed in Astana

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Tumysh held a meeting with Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security Yerlan Baidaulet, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported.

The interlocutors exchanged views on key aspects of cooperation. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the interaction with the OIC Member States in achieving food security.

In this regard, Kanat Tumysh highlighted the importance of efforts of the Islamic Organization for Food Security in addressing global geopolitical transformations and emerging threats to food security.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs was informed about the activities and achievements of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, as well as its plans for the near future. The participants discussed the ways of further partnerships of the Islamic Organization for Food Security with the regional organisations and specialised institutions of the OIC.

The issues under discussion included joint work to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan as part of the implementation of the national programme for food security.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to Yerlan Baidaulet for providing assistance in delivering humanitarian supplies to Syria hit by the devastating earthquake.
