On February 24, President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev met with Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov, who reported on the work done by the National Company over the past year, the plans for the coming period and a strategic vision of the gas industry and put forward the proposals on gas industry reforms, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported Centralasia.news.
Reporting on the measures taken to interruptedly supply natural gas to citizens of the country, Zharkeshov noted that natural gas consumption in the Republic has reached a record high during the current heating period.
The Kazakh leader was informed about the progress of the construction of a gas processing plant on the Kashagan field. He noted that the priority investment projects implemented by QazaqGaz include the inlet gas pipeline to the thermal power plant in Almaty, the second line of the Beineu-Zhanaozen gas pipeline and the expansion of the Makat-North Caucasus gas pipeline, among others.
The President was informed about the measures taken to increase a resource base and implement the geological exploration programme. It is emphasised that the company reduced its debt by 26% through cost optimization.
