President of Kazakhstan meets with agricultural producers

On February 21, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with the farmer-entrepreneurs to discuss the pressing issues related to the development of the agro-industrial sector, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.

Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeev, Director of the Rodina mixed-sector enterprise Ivan Sauer, Director-General of Olzha Agro LLP Aidarbek Hojanazarov, Head of the Zenchenko and K farmers association Gennadiy Zenchenko and Director of the Oilseeds Experimental Farm LLP Farida Abitaeva presented the reports.

They reported that agricultural production grew 9.1 percent in 2022. Farmers harvested a good grain crop, expanded the areas under oil crops and gradually switched to highly profitable agricultural crops. President Tokayev said the achievements in the sector were associated, first of all, with the hard work of agrarians and farmers.

The meeting with the President addressed issues concerning production diversification, agricultural processing and development of a number of areas of crop production, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. The important issues under discussion included the allocation of funds to the industry and the fair distribution of land and water resources.

They also discussed further improvement of the quality of life in rural areas and the construction of new schools, kindergartens and roads in remote villages.

Taking into consideration the proposals of the meeting participants, the President of Kazakhstan instructed the high-ranking officials to solve the existing problems and conduct a thorough analysis of the current situation in the agro-industrial sector.
