On February 20, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Egyptian businessmen and the top managers of major companies on the first day of his official visit to Egypt, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The managers of Elsewedy Electric, Elaraby Group, Orascom Construction, Polyserve Group, Al-Rowad and Lotus Garments Group, Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat and President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce Ibrahim al-Araby took part in the meeting with the Uzbek leader.
The participants noted the positive dynamics of the development of Uzbekistan-Egypt trade and economic relations and the existing significant potential for enhancing cooperation. They emphasised that more than 20 agreements and contracts worth $1.6 billion were concluded during the bilateral business forum, which was held prior to the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Cairo.
The top managers of the Egyptian companies informed of their plans to expand their presence in the Uzbek market. Elsewedy Electric (manufactures power transformers, electrical cables and electrical products) is ready to contribute to the construction of wind and solar power plants in Uzbekistan and launch the production of electrical equipment. Orascom Construction proposed launching a project of a chemical industrial park.
Egypt’s business circles view cooperation with Uzbekistan as an opportunity to enter other markets of Central Asia.
