Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Ramazon Rahimzoda and Deputy Head of the Counter-Terrorism Department of the Ministry of Public Security of China Xu Chuangong held a meeting in Dushanbe. They emphasised that the two countries are ready to intensify joint efforts to counter terrorism, the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
The interlocutors discussed further cooperation in combating extremism and other modern threats. Rakhimzoda thanked the Chinese official for his efforts in strengthening bilateral cooperation in this sphere.
It was emphasised that this collaboration will be expanded at the level of the bodies of internal affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China.
In November last year, the governments of the two countries signed an agreement on joint counter-terrorism exercises. According to the document, the exercise will be run at least once a year and is designed to improve coordination of military actions and test emergency response to a scenario that involves dangerous criminals entering Tajikistan.
