Korea to invest $21.2 million in three projects in Kyrgyzstan

On February 16, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Torobaev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan Lee Won-jae. The interlocutors discussed the project applications under consideration of Korea in 2023, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The Korean side is considering setting up a Kyrgyzstan-Korea Cooperation Centre for digital textile technologies with a budget of $9 million, a Research Institute for Infectious Diseases with a budget of $8 million and a Cooperation Centre for Geospatial Information with a budget of $4.2 million.

It was noted that the Korean side will continue supporting and promoting Kyrgyzstan-Korea cooperation.

The experience of Chairman of the NGO Movement for a New Village Asuan Zhakypov in the implementation of rural development projects was presented at the meeting.

Torobaev informed that Zhakypov will be appointed as Project Coordinator from the Kyrgyz side, as he has achieved great progress in this sphere.
