UNDP to assist authorities to implement New Uzbekistan Development Strategy

On February 10, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov met with UNDP Uzbekistan Resident Representative Matilda Dimovska. The interlocutors discussed key areas of bilateral partnerships and considered expanding UNDP project activities in the country, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to CentralAsia.news.

The UNDP Resident Representative expressed commitment to close cooperation with the Government of Uzbekistan in the successful implementation of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026 that is fully compatible with the UN SDGs.

The interlocutors confirmed mutual readiness to further expand cooperation in combating climate change and protecting the environment, switching to renewable energy and implementing social and economic programmes in the Aral Sea region.

In conclusion, the interlocutors noted the importance of developing joint projects aimed at developing human capital, ensuring gender equality and combating corruption.
