President of Uzbekistan explains how to increase electrical power production

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said the Republic should move away from the state monopoly on electrical power production. The Uzbek leader said solar panels in Tashkent would help increase by fourfold electricity generation, the press office of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.News.

Speaking about the measures for building up the economic potential of the country, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the installation of solar panels with a capacity of about 2,000 MW in Tashkent would not only meet the projected additional demand in 2023, but also exceed it fourfold.

Speaking at the meeting on the development of the power and transport sectors and the improvement of the welfare of citizens of the country, Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of ending the state monopoly on electrical power production. He noted that this sector needs a competitive environment. The country can purchase electrical power from the entrepreneurs who will invest in the installation of solar panels.
