Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda and Programme Manager of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Reto Weyermann held talks in Dushanbe. The interlocutors discussed the progress of the implementation of the project aimed at strengthening Tajikistan’s financial sector, the press office of the National Bank of Tajikistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
The interlocutors noted that Tajikistan’s banking system achieved positive results last year despite the influence of external factors. Tolibzoda thanked SECO for supporting Tajikistan in the financial sector.
The first stage of the programme resulted in improving financial stability and increasing the effectiveness of methods for reducing delinquent loans and the tax treatment of loan losses. It also enabled to enhance the capacities of corporate governance and the payment system and increase the protection of the rights of consumers of services.
SECO is implementing the Tajikistan financial sector improvement programme jointly with the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
