Kazakhstan sends rescue team to Turkey to help earthquake victims

On February 6, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Tokayev expressed his deep condolences to the Turkish leader over the numerous victims in the devastating earthquake that had struck several provinces of the country, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Kazakh leader noted that Kazakhstan will urgently send rescuers and doctors to the affected regions of Turkey, who will take part in search and rescue operations, and provide humanitarian emergency aid.

Earlier, Tokayev sent a telegram of condolences to Erdogan over the tragic events in the southeast of the country.

“I received with deep sorrow the news about the death of a large number of people in a powerful earthquake in the Republic of Turkey. At this difficult moment, on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and on my own behalf, I am expressing my condolences to the families of the victims and the fraternal Turkish people,” the Kazakh leader said in his message, expressing readiness to provide the necessary assistance to Turkey.
