On September 16, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov. The leaders of the two states met on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Samarkand to discuss the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
The two leaders agreed to instruct the relevant agencies to cease fire and withdraw troops and weapons form the border.
Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kamchybek Tashiev and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov will work on the spot and the commission will be set up to investigate the causes and factors that contributed to the border clash.
The two leaders agreed to speed up the activities of the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
The border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan frequently become a zone of conflict among local residents and border guards of the two countries. The causes of border clashes are the border areas which are not delineated.
