Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Germany Omurbek Tekebaev had a meeting with Regional Sales Director at Bundesdruckerei GmbH Judith Meinke. They considered introducing a digital currency, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Particular attention was paid to the National Development Programme of the Kyrgyz Republic for the period until 2026 that envisages introducing the digital som. The Ambassador emphasised that Bishkek is interested in using German technologies to digitalise its national currency.

The parties agreed that a delegation of Bundesdruckerei GmbH would visit the Central Asian country to discuss the above issues in detail at the ministries and government agencies.

According to the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, the digital som could become a third form of money.
