Minister of Commerce and Industry of Afghanistan visits Tashkent

On July 4, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the Afghan delegation headed by Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi, the press office of the Ministry reported.

The talks focused on cooperation in the trade, economic, transport and logistics, investment and humanitarian sectors, as well as specific measures to implement the plans in each of the above areas of partnerships.

The interlocutors discussed the issues related to the construction of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar trans-Afghan railway, in particular the survey of the territory along which the railway will continue to be built in July this year.

The participants exchanged views on the current state and prospects for building up Uzbekistan-Afghanistan trade relations and increasing freight transportation across the territories of the two countries. They highlighted the expediency of establishing direct contacts between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

Sardor Umurzakov confirmed once again Uzbekistan’s readiness to assist Afghanistan in every possible way in coping with the difficult economic situation and continue cooperation in key areas.
